A contrast is apparent with, at the one end, countries that have a strong capacity to collect, analyse and report the requisite statistics disaggregated by sex and age, and at the other, those whose statistical capacity is limited, and who therefore do not collect and report timely gender statistics at regular intervals.

(a) To take special measures to protect women and girls from gender based violence, in particular rape and other forms of sexual violence

The position of Sex Discrimination Commissioner has been occupied in a substantive capacity since the passage of the Sex Discrimination Act 1984.
