In each technical area, lead agencies have been identified to coordinate United Nations technical assistance.

The Subcommittee also took note of the technical changes and amendments to its technical report for 1996 and 1997 that had been proposed by IADC.

Social dimensions and effects of technology and new technologies

Individuals from civil society, the private sector and academic communities with technical expertise and experience were also engaged.
