The Plan also includes additional investments for community based services to address violence against women, including 3.5 million annually for housing support services and 3 million annually as an operating increase for shelters and counselling services.

The success of these funds would demonstrate to private investors, particularly socially responsible investors, not only the investment potential but also the social impact of emerging markets for financial services to the poor.

To meet the quality service expectations of the General Assembly, the member organizations and participants and beneficiaries, the Fund secretariat and the Investment Management Service will require resources, services and facilities commensurate with the growth and scope of operations of the Fund.

Conditions for the creation of investment funds in LDCs

Other complementary sources of equity capital may include investment funds and other so called institutional investors such as insurance companies, mutual funds or pension funds.

Most are social investment funds operating in a not for profit or semi commercial manner.

Investing in the capacity of local government to provide universal basic services is investing in healthier women and families.

The shift of FDI to services

The Chief of the Information Systems Unit supports the computer application systems that service the Fund's operations in the areas of financial services, client services, participation and separations, and also supports certain projects in the Investment Management Service.

The Fund financed social infrastructure and community development projects for low income groups, which were provided with technical and financial resources and with information at various levels in accordance with the concept of structured social investment.
