Note 3. Pledges receivable from Governments

(i) Pledges are recorded as income on the basis of a written commitment by prospective donors to pay monetary contributions at a specified time or times.

Contributions had been made by 19 high income, 21 middle income and 10 low income countries, with 15 countries having increased their contributions, 11 of them by 7 per cent or more.

This includes 322.5 million in voluntary contributions, 3.5 million in interest income, and other income of 5.6 million.

Total income in 1994 1995 included 119,619,570 of voluntary contributions, 9,295,111 of interest income and 2,492,291 of public donations and other income (A 51 5 Add.9, Statement II). This comprised 38,026,165 of general purpose contributions and 93,380,807 of special purpose contributions.
