Government Policy The policy documents of the Government relating to education are the National Education Policy 1998 2010, the Ten Year Perspective Development Plan and the Education Sector Reforms (information on these is included in the annexes).

The present report focuses on the obstacles, disparities and challenges facing indigenous peoples with regard to access to and quality of education and the cultural appropriateness of educational approaches.

The basis of the programme established centrally by the Ministry of National Education should in future be documents shaping the general educational policy.

The gender equality objective in education is underpinned by commitment to the 1997 document entitled Gender Equity A Framework for Australian Schools .

In November 2002, all ministers of education signed the document Educational reform in Bosnia and Herzegovina the global goal of which is to offer a good quality education equally accessible to all, at all levels of the education system.

Information, documentation and education in the field of human rights is one of the items on the agenda of these meetings.

Graduates of these educational institutions receive a secondary vocational education.

Lastly, attention should be drawn to the Maya education project (EDUMAYA) of Rafael Landívar University, which provides scholarships for indigenous students, intercultural and bilingual education and legal translators and is financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and endorsed by the Ministry of Education.
