4. Manual for the Development of Criminal Justice Statistics.

The Office should soon complete the preparation of a handbook on alternatives to imprisonment and another on restorative justice.

There has also been considerable development of methodologies, including for capacity building, and tools, such as manuals and guidelines, to support implementation of these policies and action plans.

In the discussion, the experts focused on the size of both the current Manual and the revised version, and on the appropriateness of the Manual for implementation in developing countries.

The Programme intended to support these, where appropriate, with handbooks providing methodological guidance.

Methodological development, in particular the preparation of handbooks, is funded through the regular programme of the Division.
