On 15 March 2001, China signed the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflict, and is currently considering its ratification.

On 30 November 2000, China signed the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Cooperation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption, and is currently engaged in its ratification.

A logo has been developed for use in combating abductions of women and children.
