The Secretariat should continue to make efforts to collect all outstanding dues, including those from former Member States.

The guns that are not handed over promptly shall be taken over by the public security organs.

That would reduce the amount outstanding at the end of 2005 compared with the end of 2004.

It should be noted that the Department of Statistics defines foreign controlled companies as either wholly owned (100 per cent) or majority owned (at least 50 per cent of paid up shares).

B. Member States that have made no payments

B. Member States that previously had made no payments

Forty five per cent of the light weapons had yet to be collected

It continued to be characterized by serious delays in the payment of assessed contributions, their partial payment or even non payment.

(e) Urged those Member States that had not yet paid their assessed regular budget contributions, including advances to the Working Capital Fund for the bienniums 1986 1987 to 1996 1997, to do so without further delay

Received contributions represent 75 per cent of the approved budget and outstanding contributions from prior periods.

The SBI may also wish to urge Parties that have not made their contributions to do so in a timely manner.

10. A second factor that can moderate the level of unpaid assessments is payment of arrears.

Outstanding assessed contributions to the two Tribunals amounted to 80 million and unpaid peacekeeping assessments amounted to 2,540 million.

It is the policy of the United Nations not to make provision for delays in collection of such assessments

The Large Taxpayers Unit simply consolidates the taxes paid by the volunteer self identified firms.

Higher unpaid assessments for MONUC were offset by lower amounts outstanding for UNMIL. There was no significant change in the unpaid assessments for closed missions.

As at 31 May 2005, unpaid assessed contributions to the special account for UNOCI amounted to 95.8 million. The total outstanding assessed contributions for all peacekeeping operations at that date amounted to 2,028.0 million.

At present, unpaid assessments amount to 54.4 million.

In terms of the Internal Audit Division Manual, section 9.9.2, the maximum timeline established for the submission of the final audit report to the client is four months (120 calendar days) from the end of the fieldwork.

The personnel suspected to be involved were dismissed

The investigation was ongoing and possible financial implications were not yet known

Investigation revealed that trip tickets were forged and vehicles refuelled while they were in for repairs.

This was suspected to have been done by an official from a contingent.

However, the Board is concerned that the risk of poor fuel management may be pervasive and prevalent in other missions.
