A. Human rights policy

It was noted that publications policy and its implementation were the responsibility of a number of entities besides conference services.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and Health in Finland published a second edition of its National Ageing Policy to 2001 in 1996.

The Publications Board was set up in October 1997 to recommend to the Executive Director the policies and guidelines for all Habitat publications, both in print and electronic formats.

Concern was expressed that the recommendation did not specify how the criteria for screening proposed publications (relevance to mandates, usefulness for implementing mandates and potential for duplication) were related to one another and to publications policy.

In 2001, the policy document Where there's a will there's a world working on sustainability, also known as the Fourth National Environment Policy Plan, was published.

The Section contributed to developing a new publication policy and supporting system to improve the planning, monitoring and production of UN Habitat publications.

The policy should be widely available in print and electronic versions and serve as the basis for the preparation of a generic standard operating procedure, aimed at different levels of command to cover interaction between humanitarian organizations and agencies and the military in the field and the implementation of community support projects (paras.
