All in all, EMPRETEC was regarded as a programme of significant economic potential and relevance to developing countries.

These mechanisms provide a regular forum for all interested bodies working in their respective areas to consult with each other on their programme plans and activities and discuss ways to ensure that their activities are mutually supportive of the overall objectives of the programme or subprogrammes.

The Committee received details showing that all the mandates and objectives of the former subprogrammes had been maintained in the relevant subprogrammes of programme 28.

Depending upon the receipt of relevant funds, two scenarios are foreseen.

Nine programmes did so in some of their subprogrammes whereas nine others did not identify gender related performance goals.

The programme narrative of the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2006 2007 for safety and security activities (A 60 6 (Sect. 33)) is identical to that of the consolidated programme 27 attached hereto.

Views were expressed that the programmatic aspects of the sections of the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2006 2007, including the overview portions, should be identical to the respective programmes of the biennial programme plan for the period 2006 2007 and should be revised accordingly for consideration by the Fifth Committee of the General Assembly.

It was recognized, however, that there was a lack of clarity in respect of the Secretariat's role with regard to NAPs, SRAPs and RAPs.

While the efforts made by the Secretariat to implement paragraph 9 of resolution 58 269 were recognized, concern was expressed that there were some discrepancies between the programmatic aspects of the sections of the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2006 2007 and the relevant programmes of the biennial programme plan for the period 2006 2007.

The other Asian countries concerned are at various stages of preparing the NAPs.

The programme of activities under section 27 corresponds to programme 23, Public information, of the biennial programme plan for the period 2006 2007.

The literacy programmes were functional in the sense that they also taught numeracy and income related entrepreneurial skills.

In 2005, UNDP and its associated funds and programmes completed 280 evaluations, conducted in 60 per cent of all programme countries.
