Among the consumer loans, medium and long term loans dominated by housing loans accounted for about 80 , but short term consumer loans grow faster than medium and long term loans.

37. In that context, the long term financial sustainability of microcredit operations deserves particular attention.

In the absence of long term sustainability, microcredit operations become a welfare or charity operation.
