Projected income for the biennium 1996 1997

Including projected secondary income, further 1998 income was projected at 213.6 million.

Revenue is projected to amount to 300 million for 2005.

For the purposes of planning and budgeting for the future, regular resources income for 2006 2007 is projected to increase to 1.7 billion, which is an increase of 18 per cent over planned income for 2004 2005 or 6 per cent over the revised 2004 2005 income projection.

The total estimated income for 2006 2007 is estimated at 71.2 million, representing an increase of 0.9 million in income compared to 2004 2005 support budget.

Projected income is at a higher level than in the previous biennium, since investment returns are predicted to be more favourable than in 2004 2005.

Based on the income earned under this heading in 2004 and anticipated for 2005, estimates of 1,464,600 under the regular budget and 315,200 in the operational budget are considered reasonable for 2006 2007.

Estimated income to the budget

Estimated income and adjustments to the support budget for 2006 2007 amount to 12.6 million, as compared to 14.6 million estimated income for 2004 2005.

The total income of the Fund for the biennium 1998 1999 is estimated at 116.4 million, resulting in an expected shortfall of income over expenditure of 32.3 million.

In addition, for 2006, 250.0 million of other resources income is projected.

The projected income is estimated at 470.7 million, an increase of 20.5 million over the revised income estimates of 450.2 million for the biennium.

Estimated income and adjustments to the 2006 2007 biennial support budget amount to 190.0 million, including 161.0 from recovery charges, as compared to estimated income to the 2004 2005 biennial support budget of 156.4 million (including income from recovery charges of 129.6 million).

The financial plan forecasts total income of 2,305 million for 2005, an increase of 327 million compared to actual results for 2004.

The Board notes that UNOPS has performed a three year lease income forecast for subleases, projecting an average annual lease income of 1.8 million.

Revenues for 1996 97 were forecast at 38.9 million, while expenditures were estimated at 36.6 million.

IS2.4 The estimate of 469,700, reflecting a decrease of 9,600 over the 2004 2005 estimates, is projected for the sale of used equipment on the basis of income earned in 2004.

Under the above 2005 plan and budget estimates, the 2005 year end net income from operations is 2.91 million.

In 2005, other resources (regular) income is expected to be 126 million lower (16 per cent).

The estimated amount of revenue for the United Nations reflects the anticipated level of gross sales to be generated by the gift shop.

For 1997, 375,000 is expected, an amount similar to that for 1996.

The 2005 budget proposal foresees revenues in the amount of 53.77 million and expenditures of 50.86 million, resulting in a projected net income of 2.91 million.

For 2008, against a projected target of 52.71 million, the goal for additional revenue generation is projected at 28.54 million, or 54.2 per cent.

B. Budgeted income for the 2006 season

A projected 9.5 per cent increase in income from regular resources contributions between 2002 2003 and 2004 2005.

The revised projection of cash income of 252 million for 1998 represented an increase of 16 million from the projection made at the end of the first quarter of the year.

The income projection for 2006 2007 shown in table 13 anticipates a 15 per cent increase for regular resources over two years the projected increase in regular resources contributions is based on a number of factors, including

(e) Gross proceeds from card and gift sales of 188.0 million

General purpose income is expected to increase to 37,638,000 in the biennium 1998 1999, compared with 35,668,200 in the biennium 1996 1997, and special purpose income is expected to increase to 91,492,000 in the biennium 1998 1999, compared with 90,785,500 in the biennium 1996 1997.

In card and gift sales, for 2006, sales volume is projected at 118 million cards and gross proceeds are projected at 161.0 million.

The Committee also notes that for the 1998 1999 biennium, income is estimated at 116,394,000.

As at the end of June 1998, cash expenditure in the regular programme in 1998 was expected to be 253 million, compared with expected cash income in 1998 of some 252 million.

The total income projections for the biennium 2006 2007 from voluntary sources of 206.4 million show an increase of about 3 per cent compared with the income for the biennium 2004 2005 of 199.8 million.

The Fund's annual revenues are consistently and often dramatically lower than the projected needs itemized in the budget.

The income from this activity is expected to remain at 200,000 for the biennium 2006 2007.

At 30 June 1998, expected 1998 cash expenditure in the regular programme was 253 million, as compared to expected 1998 cash income of 252 million.

Despite those measures, in mid 1997 expected income against the regular budget was estimated at only 242 million for the year.
