The basis is defined quarterly upon a proposal by the Ministry of Finance and Treasury.

VI. QUANTIFICATION OF THE CLAIMS

The amount of the pension is based on contributions in the years prior to the retirement date.

Under the procedures for the reserve fund, in off budget years the General Assembly would decide on the level of the fund, which would be included in the proposed programme budget for the next biennium.

All flow data are calculated from these stock data by subtracting the previous year from the current year.

232. Some members of the Commission were of the view that in setting the amount for internationally recruited staff, thought should be given also to the amounts paid to locally recruited staff, which based on the information available, seemed disproportionately low.

In such cases the retirement pension is calculated on the basis of each agreement and varies from one country to another.

The increase would be determined in the context of proposals for each biennium, but would not exceed 2.5 million.
