This reduction in liquidation timescales translates directly into significant savings in liquidation budgets.

130. During the first nine months of the liquidation, UNPF had insufficient staff with experience or proven expertise in the liquidation of peacekeeping missions.

117. During 1998 1999, the Liquidation Unit will complete outstanding liquidation tasks for UNPF, UNAMIR, UNOSOM, ONUMOZ and UNOMIL.

The cost estimates provide for travel within the mission area ( 10,000) and travel from Zagreb to New York for eight members of the liquidation team and for daily subsistence allowance in New York ( 182,500).

Of this unencumbered balance, the concurrence of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions has been obtained to utilize an amount of 1,199,200 gross ( 1,070,300 net) to meet the cost of completing the liquidation of the mission.
