To facilitate the dialogue between physicians and the space industry, in early 1996 the European Space Agency (ESA) created an association called Promotion of Medical Use of Space, which disseminates information about space technology and ongoing projects with the space industry in order to promote the transfer of space technology to medical applications.

This has enabled them to develop a vibrant domestic audiovisual industry, without the need to adopt domestic policies for protecting and promoting local supply capacities.

By contrast, oil producers and others in the industry can keep supply off the market if they think that its price will rise later, or they can put extra supply on the market if they think the price will fall.
