The Forum had held its first official meeting in February 2005.

The first meeting of the RSA Forum is planned for March 2006.

At the same meeting, the Forum adopted its report on its fourth session.

At its 2nd meeting, on 16 May, the Forum established two working groups.

At the same meeting, the Forum decided to annex the summary of the discussion to the report of the Forum (see annex I).

It also agreed that another Forum Aviation Policy Ministers Meeting should be convened to review the Action Plan and report to the next Forum.

New Caledonia will host the 2005 meeting of the Pacific Islands Forum Ministerial Committee.

At the same meeting, the Chairman proposed that the Forum adopt the draft declaration.

9. The Forum welcomed the outcome of the second Forum Economic Ministers Meeting which was held in Nadi, Fiji, on 7 and 8 July 1998 and thanked the Government of Fiji for hosting the meeting.

At its first plenary meeting, the Forum adopted the following agenda for its second session

12. Recognizing the importance of efficient and effective communications services for both national and regional development, the Forum agreed to convene a Forum communications policy ministerial meeting.

At the first meeting of the Forum, at Toyama, Japan in July 1997, priority initial tasks were identified and allocated to respective Government members of the Forum.

In January 2005, we attended a meeting of the World Social Forum in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

1. Forum Leaders meeting today in Pohnpei have warmly welcomed the signing of the Noumea Accords.

The Forum Standing Committee (FSC), mandated by Forum IV to decide on the modalities for the process, convened a meeting of experts to prepare a proposal for the process.

Furthermore, Tokelau would be admitted as an Observer to the Pacific Islands Forum at its next meeting.

At the same meeting, the Forum decided to annex the summary to the report (see annex IV).

The meeting had resulted in a decision to establish an Asia Pacific forum for human rights institutions.

The upcoming meeting in Cairns, Australia (8 12 September 1997) will be the forum for such discussions.

Their forum, which was also the eleventh meeting of the group, attracted the participation of 269 parliamentarians.

A special meeting of the St. Helena Business Forum was held to coincide with the visit.3

During the Ministerial meeting held in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, in April 1998, Malta assumed the Presidency of the Forum, and will be hosting the Mediterranean Forum Ministerial Meeting in 1999, as well as the preparatory meetings at the senior officials level.

They agreed that, when work on the free trade area framework is sufficiently advanced, a meeting of Forum Trade Ministers should be convened to make recommendations to the next Forum.

The Malta meeting took a number of decisions in the hope that the first Euro Mediterranean Parliamentary Forum could lead to more substantive decisions concerning the future of the Forum.

The leaders of the Forum at their recent meeting had urged countries to make additional efforts in meeting commitments under the Framework Convention on Climate Change.

20. Leaders welcomed the outcomes of the Forum Aviation Policy Ministers Meeting and recognized the value of the sectoral policy meeting format adopted in this case.

They agreed to cooperate closely, particularly at the subregional level, in improving air and shipping services and in addressing other impediments to increased trade and investment. 7. The Forum directed the Forum secretariat to accord high priority to facilitating the implementation of Forum Economic Ministers Meeting outcomes and requested the next meeting to report to the Forum in 1998 on progress in the implementation of the action plan.

At its 1st meeting, on 16 May, the Forum elected the following members of the Bureau by acclamation

The Forum considered agenda item 3, Status of the Forum secretariat jointly with agenda item 7, Enhanced cooperation and policy and programme coordination , at its 2nd meeting, on 16 May 2005.

In most areas, specific deadlines and targets were outlined against which progress could be measured for reporting to the second meeting of the Forum, which was held in 1997, and the third meeting of the Forum, scheduled to be held in the year 2000.

My proposal was met with agreement, and I will convene the first meeting of the Kosovo Forum next week.

5. The Forum highlighted the importance of the implementation of measures to ensure early progress towards meeting these commitments.
