Recently, the focal points have focused on coordinating follow up to global conferences and summits, including in relation to the Millennium Development Goals.

Its agreement with IAEA on comprehensive safeguards was signed in 1972, while its agreement on the Additional Protocol entered into force in 2000.

Indeed, synergies between national, regional and global efforts are essential for the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and for the realization of objectives set out in the global conferences and summits of the 1990s.
