Revisions to article 1 of the Staff Regulations and chapter I of

Staff rule 107.03, appendices F and G to the staff rules.

Training programmes should be developed in order to acquaint public officials and professional groups working in the area of human rights, including public officials, law enforcement and correctional officials, members of the judiciary, members of the defence forces, teachers, social workers and health care personnel.

Provisions are also made for a staffing component of 1,704 (397 international and 1,307 local staff) an increase of 5 international posts and 71 local posts as described in paragraph 31 of the report of the Secretary General (A 52 786).

Under aged workers and employees, and those working in hazardous and dangerous conditions, night shifts and on days immediately preceding weekends and holidays in a six day working week, work reduced time without pay reduction.

As at 31 December 1997, a total of 331 staff were on board, consisting of 42 international and 289 local staff.

Regulation 5.3

The Tribunal continued the recruitment process for both Professional and General Service staff.
