2. The present report describes the organization of the training course, its technical contents, the results of the course evaluation and follow up actions.

An upgraded version of this tool had been adopted and was expected to be fully implemented to improve the replenishment process.

In particular, the establishment of mission training cells by the Training and Evaluation Service, the pre deployment training of UNMO team leaders, and the introduction of course curricula based on standardized training modules are commended.

The responses indicated that the workshop was a success and most participants rated the effectiveness of the trainers highly.

An evaluation was to be completed in 2005, to help improve the training methodology.

All the units will undergo training to increase their capacity for self evaluation.

This was followed by a half day session reserved for formal evaluation of the course.

The Committee stresses that the lack of an effective means to evaluate training remains a very significant drawback of the training activities of the Organization.

UNRWA concurs with the need to evaluate training in order to assess its contribution towards the professional development and growth of its staff members.

The Department indicated that, based on the experience gained in using this tool, user requirements would be drawn up and presented to the Galileo Development Group in order to pursue the development of a new Galileo module to centrally monitor and account for strategic deployment stocks transactions.

Were the trainers effective?

Each of the training sessions was preceded by a distance learning course.

Preference might also be given to the training of trainers.

It was therefore considered timely to assess how well the courses met current needs and to use the results of the assessment as a basis for proposing changes in course contents.
