Most developed countries experienced a decline in their respective shares of world steel consumption during this period, and most developing regions increased their shares only marginally (see table 4), except for China and the Middle East where, in relative terms, consumption rose faster.

(b) Historical share of greenhouse gas emissions

The share of processed products in total OECD food imports increased from 23 per cent (1980 82) to 29 per cent (1990 92).

As a result, the contribution of transport to total greenhouse gases emissions has increased from 22 per cent in 1990 to 24 per cent in 1995.

A substantial increase in quotas is being considered in the IMF Eleventh General Review of Quotas.

Our energy plan envisages a substantial increase in nuclear electricity generation by the year 2030, representing an increase in the share of nuclear energy from the current 0.8 per cent to 4.2 per cent.

The share of coal declined from around 65 per cent to about 50 per cent, and that of oil from 11 to 5 per cent the share of nuclear power increased from 21 to 29 per cent and that of natural gas from less than 1 to 13 per cent.

The increase in the number of posts is due to the increase in peacekeeping activities.

The largest share of historical and current global emissions of greenhouse gases has originated in developed countries, and the per capita emissions in developing countries are still relatively low and the share of global emissions originating in developing countries will grow to meet their social and development needs.

Developed countries remain the main source of outward FDI, while developing countries' share has also grown (from one per cent in 1990 to 10 per cent of global outward FDI services stock in 2002).

While he welcomed the increased share of LDCs in overall UNCTAD expenditures, he felt that this share should increase further to reach 40 per cent.

Most of these increases are driven by the volume increases in activity.

This does not mean that the German made share of exports is falling in absolute terms. It only means that the total volume of German exports has been rising faster than the total German value added in those exports.

Emissions in the transport sector are expected to increase 46 per cent by 2000 and 78 per cent by 2010, while in electricity production they may grow by 35 per cent by 2000, even when the increased share of natural gas is factored in.

Over the past decades, the shares of the industrial and services sectors in the region's total GDP have increased significantly, while the share of the agricultural sector has declined.

The policy includes reducing carbon dioxide emissions, increasing the share of gas in end use energy and power, conserving energy to decrease fossil fuel consumption, increasing the share of renewable energy and adding nuclear and hydro generating capacity.

Over the last 25 years, Africa's share of world exports has been declining, from approximately 6 per cent in 1980 to approximately 2 per cent in 2004, for the continent as a whole. Sub Saharan Africa's share of world exports is estimated at 1.5 per cent.

The resulting increases often come on top of an already significant increase due to a higher share of total membership GNI.

As market shares increase, steady progress in lowering costs can be expected to continue through economies of scale.

The value of world exports of iron and steel (Standard International Trade Classification (SITC) position 67) doubled in the period 1985 2002 from US 70.3 billion to US 143.2 billion, while their share in world total merchandise exports fell from 3.64 per cent to 2.27 per cent and their share in world commodities exports rose by 0.5 per cent (from 10.2 per cent in 1985 to 10.7 per cent in 2002).

One measure of Fund resources is the total value of member quotas in the Fund.

In terms of total resources, the proportion allocated to headquarters has been reduced from 9.0 per cent to 7.6 per cent (see table 1).
