In Ethiopia, UNICEF and WFP jointly launched a three year child survival project linking delivery of healthcare with food distribution to increase the outreach of health services and the survival chances of the most vulnerable children.

The Office assisted UNMIL civilian police and UNICEF in establishing the Women and Children's Unit of the Liberian National Police to deal with cases of violence against those vulnerable groups.

Progress achieved to date with the national health policy has gone a long way to improving the health of mothers and children, who are the most vulnerable groups of the population, and who have faced high mortality rates.
