As a result, the secretariat has been unable to summarize in any quantitative form the potential benefits of such projects on the climate.

(b) For NGO projects, of the 244 NGO executed projects where outstanding advances exceeded three months of reported expenditure, the Board found 110 projects, with outstanding advances totalling 1.8 million, where there had been no 1997 expenditure reported and 59 projects, with outstanding advances totalling 3.6 million, where disbursement reports for 1997 were incomplete.

And this is a technique that I explored in a different project, the Yahoo! Time Capsule, which was designed to take a fingerprint of the world in 2006.

However, such equity capital normally represents only a portion of the total cost of an infrastructure project.

The Board concluded that the Information Section had taken steps to address what it perceives are the immediate issues for the Office s information technology systems.

For 276 of these, with outstanding advances totalling 4.4 million, no quarterly disbursement reports had been received in respect of 1997.

XVI. CONCLUUDING ITEMS

In 1997, the Office undertook a review of its business system and concluded that IMIS was compatible with its operational needs and should therefore be implemented.

It is the responsibility of the UNFPA representative, the relevant headquarters division and the relevant executing agencies to review project status on an ongoing basis to determine whether action needs to be taken to close an inactive project. In 1997, more than 400 projects were financially closed.

Overall, the number of intercountry projects should be reduced

The briefing, to be chaired by the UNDP Administrator, will be on the conclusions, recommendations and lessons learnt from this project.

The total amount corresponds to 4.0 per cent of total UNDCP project delivery.

The outstanding advances on these projects totalled 2.8 million, which, after being offset by 0.6 million owed by UNFPA to Governments for these projects, represented a net balance of 2.2 million due to UNFPA.

As promised in A 58 70, the reporting is now able to summarize the actual rates of achievement in meeting targets across the reported measures, as shown in table 2.
