14. The IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories should be used in estimating, reporting and verifying inventory data.

It has also followed, as far as possible, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (1994) in preparing its national inventory of greenhouse gases (GHGs) not controlled by the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.

Many Parties provided lists of abatement and sequestration projects.

(i) Development of national inventories of greenhouse gas emissions (Article 4.1(a))

The CGE discussed the outcomes of the hands on training workshop on GHG inventories held in China, and recommended the following to improve future GHG inventory workshops

The inventories prepared were based on the CORINAIR CORINAIR is the component dealing with air emissions inventories of the European Economic Community CORINE (Coordinated Information System on the State of Natural Resources and the Environment).

13. Parties should also provide greenhouse gas inventory information for years subsequent to 1990.

The GHG inventory is based on the Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories adopted by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and default emissions factors, although CORINAIR CORINAIR is the component dealing with air emissions inventories of the European Community apos s CORINE (Coordinated Information System on the State of Natural Resources and the Environment).

Revised 1996 IPCC guidelines for national greenhouse gas inventories

Twenty four GHG inventory reviews and 18 in depth reviews of national communications are scheduled.

The review team considered the Italian greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory to be substantially complete for the main direct and indirect greenhouse gases, subject to the observations made in chapter II below.

Projecting global GHG emissions methods to estimate future global GHG emissions or removals by sinks

Almost all economic activities affect emissions and some affect the removals of greenhouse gases.

Annex I Parties are required to submit a national GHG inventory by 15 April of each year.

This should, to the extent possible, be consistent with the categories set out in the IPCC Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories.

We need to try to encourage people to come up with a way of extracting carbon out of the Earth's atmosphere.

In calculating the baseline net greenhouse gas removals by sinks and or actual net greenhouse gas removals by sinks, project participants may choose not to account for one or more carbon pools, and or emissions of the greenhouse gases measured in CO2 equivalents, while avoiding double counting.

The Executive Board shall consider ways to simplify the information requirements needed to determine that one or more carbon pools and or greenhouse gas emissions can be excluded from the estimation of the baseline net greenhouse gas removals by sinks and or the actual net greenhouse gas removals by sinks.

The IPCC apos s GHG inventory programme, which aims at publishing the Revised 1996 Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories and assessing a number of special topics, will cost approximately SwF1 million in 1997 and will be paid for from the IPCC budget.

Latvia has partially followed the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (1994).

The IPCC plenary also approved Phase II Guidelines for National Greenhouse Gas Inventories as an addendum to the guidelines approved by the IPCC and the Convention bodies and developed a specific work programme for its greenhouse gas inventory activities during the year 1997.

(i) Monitoring of GHGs in the atmosphere

For example ISO 14064 on Greenhouse gases, US DOE 1605(b) on General Guidelines for Voluntary Greenhouse Gas Reporting, WRI WBCSD on The Greenhouse Gas Protocol A Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.

The GHGIS is vital to producing authoritative GHG information for the COP and ensuring that the large number of annual inventories can be processed in a cost effective, timely and rigorous manner.

Consistent with paragraph 18 of these reporting guidelines, each Annex I Party shall communicate a national inventory of anthropogenic emissions by sources and removals by sinks of all greenhouse gases not controlled by the Montreal Protocol.
