The revised budget provides for the deployment of 5,674 additional military contingent personnel and 86 additional civilian police personnel.

On 12 July, Chairman Bryant approved a new uniforms policy and rank structure, which was essential for the structural reorganization of the police force.

I also commend the Kosovo Force (KFOR), the UNMIK police and the Kosovo Police Service for having shown great skill and professionalism in maintaining a secure and stable environment through a challenging period.

The Special Court indicated to the assessment mission that a United Nations police or gendarmerie unit would be its preferred option, given the nature of the tasks, and that the United Nations police contingent would find natural interlocutors in the Sierra Leone police force, which provides security for the Court.
