What we're also missing is blue carbon, which, by the way, is the largest store of carbon more than 55 percent.

What's green carbon?

Three Parties (CZE, DEU, GBR) with overall decreasing CO2 emissions nevertheless reported increases from transport.

For the majority of reporting Parties CO2 emissions from international bunkers were equivalent to 1 to 6 per cent of total CO2 emissions in Iceland and Netherlands they were equivalent to 17 and 24 per cent, respectively.

Most Parties reported emissions of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs) and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6), although not uniformly.

But what we're missing is also some other emissions like black carbon, that is soot.

The annual removal of CO2 was thus estimated at 29,718 Gg, rather than the 70,400 Gg reported in the national communication.

For 13 Parties, CO2 emissions from fuel combustion represented more than 90 per cent of the total CO2 emissions.

For example, Point Carbon (emission trading market) quotes the price of carbon as the European Union Allowance (EUA), which changes daily, and the World Bank (carbon fund) indicates USD 3 5 tCO2 for the Prototype Carbon Fund and EUR 5 6 tCO2 for the Netherlands Clean Development Facility.

You can very precisely calculate what your CO2 emissions are, and then you will be given options to reduce.

Estimates of CO2 removals are reported separately from emissions owing to the differences in reporting of land use change and forestry among Parties.

Of the three main sources, five Parties reported increasing fugitive fuel emissions, three Parties increases from agriculture and eight Parties increases from waste.

CH4 and N2O accounted for 11 per cent and 4 per cent of total emissions, while emissions of HFCs, PFCs and SF6 taken together were 1.8 per cent of total emissions.

Owing to the poor quality of associated statistics, the value is reported, but not included in the national total of CO2 emissions.

Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in 1995 increased in the majority of reporting Parties compared to 1990, the range of increase being from 2 to 10 per cent.

And it puts 18 thousand tons of carbon dioxide in the air.

Why Cutting Carbon Emissions is not Enough

HFC emissions could reach as much as 20 25 per cent of CO2 emissions over the period 2015 2100.

Although Ireland is one of the least forested countries in the EU and does not seek to offset emissions exclusively through CO2 uptake in its forests, it would be important to report on 1990 emissions and removals from this sector, as requested by the FCCC reporting guidelines.

The CO2 projections for 2000 were made in the communication using net emission levels, i.e. the estimated sequestration by the forestry sink has been subtracted.

The communication did not include emission figures for hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs) and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6 ) and only aggregated emission levels for precursor gases were provided.

Only net CO2 emissions removals are reported in sectoral report table 5.
