In Lebanon, in keeping with the Millennium Development Goals, we have established two institutions the Fund for Social and Economic Development and the Project for Domestic Development.

Through the Ministry of Social Development the Federal Government coordinates the National Social Housing Fund (FONHAPO) and the National Housing Development Commission (CONAFOVI), among other programmes.

The developing countries should bear in mind that private investors were interested only in projects that were financially attractive and were therefore unlikely to invest in social projects.

The overarching goal of the project is to accelerate the development of civil society through support to and capacity building of non governmental and community based organizations.
