The report was discussed at many inter ministerial and civil society fora.

29. In this round table, panellists addressed the following sub topics goals, strategies and priorities of national development economic indicators and social conditions.

The second panel will be devoted to the theme of the social impact of globalization and will have as its topic poverty eradication.

The matter currently was under discussion in the Economic and Social Council.

The 1998 seminar, to be convened at the end of October 1998, will address Political culture and institutions for a world community .

Seminars and symposia

The Social Panorama included a section on the deliberations held at the First Regional Conference in the Follow up to the Social Summit (held in April 1997 in São Paulo, Brazil).

Very hard to argue about justice without first arguing about the purpose of social institutions and about what qualities are worthy of honor and recognition.

Item 3 (e) of the provisional agenda

This was done with a view to discussing how to implement the ECOSOC resolution on that matter.

It reflected the international community apos s concern about the topics under discussion.

In preparation for the meeting, hearings with representatives of civil society and the business sector had been held that had contributed to the debate.

A bill on social security funds has been discussed by the social partners and subsequently submitted to Parliament.

ACTIONAID representatives from Uganda and India participated in the Conference through the NGO Forum, Asia Caucus and Africa Caucus.

Local press informed that in response to the rise in crime, a number of community forums were held throughout 2004 to address the issue.

This theme was the subject of a discussion of social policy on the elderly, social insurance laws and their role in providing care for elderly persons.

So, we gather around, we discuss about problems and social problems and talk about it.

So with that preamble, I want to go into discussing the two most profound social trends.

(b) Summary of discussions in panel B and in the plenary

The following themes were among those suggested for the seminars

UNMIS is holding a set of round table discussions for civil society in Khartoum and Juba on the human rights provisions of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement.

All levels of society in the Member States were invited to contribute to the discussions, attend the centennial events and participate in organizing the proposed regional discussions.

27. Two informal panels were held, one on the economic and the other on the social aspects of globalization.

Promoting social integration was one of the core issues addressed by the World Summit for Social Development in 1995.

Why talk about social economic movements that may be more than a century away?

A scientific and civil society perspective was provided during the fourth panel segment.

It renewed its call to the international community to consider the hidden causes of terrorism.

In addition, all draft legislation on employment and social issues was discussed with the relevant civil society organizations, usually in the National Tripartite Cooperation Council and its subcouncils.

Designed as an open forum involving civil society organizations, members of the religious community and academia, the series offers the opportunity to discuss how intolerance, wherever it exists and for whatever reasons, can be unlearned through education, inclusion and example.

A special session of the Council devoted to this issue was held in May 1998.
