You might have seen images about the post election violence that happened there in 2008.

And shortly after the election and the outbreak of violence, the government suddenly imposed a significant media blackout.

In earlier incidents connected to last month's municipal elections, violence erupted on 18 May, following a court ruling the day before which abrogated election results in some municipalities.
