The variations in the original asset values shown in column 20 of annex I.A are attributable to the inclusion of the value of the vehicle spare parts under the vehicular equipment category, and to the reconciliation adjustments under the other five categories of equipment.

Provision is made for spare parts and supplies for communications equipment, consisting of 198,000 for civilian communications equipment and 22,000 for military communications equipment.

An amount of 14,300 has been included for spare parts, repair and maintenance of United Nations owned equipment, including office equipment, data processing equipment, generators and water purification equipment.

This estimate covers repairs and maintenance of a variety of equipment, such as office machines, kitchen and heating equipment, generators, medical equipment, optical equipment, computer equipment, including contractual repair, maintenance and spare parts for stock.

The estimate provides for spare parts repairs and maintenance for office equipment ( 6,000), electronic data processing equipment ( 9,000), generators ( 10,600), refrigeration equipment ( 3,000) and fuel tanks ( 10,000).

An amount of 19,300 provides for spare parts repairs and maintenance of office equipment ( 3,000), electronic data processing equipment ( 4,500), generators ( 5,300), refrigeration equipment ( 1,500) and fuel tanks ( 5,000).

68. Spare parts, repairs and maintenance. The unutilized balance of 600 was due to lower actual costs of equipment, spare parts and maintenance.

The estimates, totalling 1,242,207, are based on actual identified requirements for the purchase of spare parts, repairs and maintenance for the following equipment office machines ( 35,000), electronic equipment ( 40,000), data communications ( 35,000), generators ( 500,000) miscellaneous equipment ( 438,642), observation equipment ( 110,000), medical equipment ( 25,000), welfare equipment ( 20,200) and data processing equipment ( 38,365).

Provision is made in the amount of 284,000 for spare parts for existing data processing equipment, including software ( 114,000), office equipment ( 115,000), generator ( 55,000).

Maintenance of communications equipment is estimated at 10,000, consisting of replacement parts for communications equipment telephone cables and accessories, batteries for repeaters and base stations, antenna cables and connectors, and other miscellaneous communications spare parts and supplies.

Equipment purchased during the year was lower than planned due to a scale down of original purchases planned.

Provision is made for spare parts and replacement equipment for UNIKOM water purification equipment in order to ensure reliability of quality and quantity of water.

Provision is made for spare parts, repairs and maintenance of other equipment not provided for elsewhere.

The supply, sale, transit and brokering of items of military equipment of any kind, including military weapons, ammunition, vehicles and equipment and paramilitary equipment, as well as accessories and spare parts thereof, are prohibited.

Reimbursement on a wet lease basis and for self sustainment has resulted in reduced requirements on other budget lines, such as minor alteration of premises, upgrading of roads, spare parts repairs and maintenance of motor vehicles, rental of vehicles, commercial communications and communications spare parts, office furniture, equipment and supplies, other equipment spare parts, contractual services, medical services and supplies, observation equipment and quartermaster and general stores.

SMEs during that phase were not original equipment manufacturers and did not possess the required technological capabilities to undertake OFDI.

Provision is made for electronic data processing spare parts and supplies at 500 per month and spare parts and maintenance of other furniture and equipment at 500 per month.

Provision is made in the amount of 234,700 for spare parts and supplies for routine maintenance and repair of satellite equipment ( 115,000), telephone equipment ( 19,700), radio microwave equipment ( 40,000), preservation materials ( 20,000) and start up kit maintenance ( 40,000).

Development of local enterprises for simple manufacturing of equipment and parts would be important to keep the systems functional.

The cost estimate provides for spare parts, repairs and maintenance of other equipment to be transferred to other missions.
