Secondary basic and secondary vocational education

SECONDARY AND SECONDARY VOCATIONAL EDUCATION BY SEX, 1993

Higher vocational education in the country is performed on the basis of general secondary, beginning vocational and secondary vocational education, and colleges of higher vocational schools and in State institutions of higher vocational education, including private institutions.

The following levels of vocational education have been established in the Latvian educational system primary vocational education secondary vocational education higher professional education.

Upper secondary education includes a baccalaureate level and technical vocational education.

Graduates of these educational institutions receive a secondary vocational education.

519. Approximately 68 per cent of primary school graduates attend vocational secondary schools every year approximately 26 per cent of secondary school graduates attend post secondary vocational schools.

A person is enrolled in programmes of secondary vocational education after the person has acquired general primary education or primary vocational education.

Among the unemployed women, 16 had a higher education, 38 , a general secondary education, and 27 , secondary vocational training.

The Law On Vocational Education regulates primary vocational education, secondary vocational education and higher professional education of the first level, as well as the awarding of the respective professional qualifications.

524. In the school year 1993 94, there were 379 non public vocational schools (trade, vocational secondary, post secondary), constituting 3.9 per cent of the total.

The MC supervises 15 vocational secondary schools of cultural education with 1,923 students studying in programmes of vocational secondary education, and 2,509 students studying in programmes of music, arts and choreography.

Post secondary schools on the basis of secondary schools, with a two year cycle (a few have a one year cycle), offering opportunities to supplement a general education with a vocational one.

Also, in secondary vocational school, vocational education for work is provided over the period of one or years (simpler vocations).

In addition a number of technical colleges and vocational training institutes provide technical and vocational education at the secondary level.

The person is enrolled in programmes of further vocational education that allow acquiring the third level of professional qualifications, after the person has acquired vocational education or secondary education.

463. In Greenland secondary education mainly means vocational training and education, governed by legislation including GPR No. 16 of 28 October 1993 concerning vocational training and education, education grants and occupational counselling.

A young person may, without having completed secondary school, follow vocational training courses at the so called Vocational Education Centres (CEO).

The State is improving education processes both in general education institutions and in secondary vocational and higher learning institutions.

As noted in the initial report, Kazakhstan has created the conditions for implementing the rights of citizens to free general secondary education and beginning vocational training and, on a competitive basis, secondary vocational training and higher education.

All citizens of the country are guaranteed free general secondary and beginning vocational training, as well as, on a competitive basis (in the context of a State contractual award), secondary vocational training, higher education, and postgraduate education.

Secondary vocational technical schools

The Israeli secondary education system is composed of both technological vocational and general public high schools.

The state exercises direct oversight and provides funding for vocational schools, establishments of secondary vocational education, special schools as well as programmes of national education, special education and educational programmes of social correction.

Trade, vocational secondary and post secondary schools offering an education in the professions important for railway transport and maritime or inland shipping, as well as the maritime economy, are managed by the Minister of Transport and Maritime Economy

The Contracting Parties shall ensure that citizens have access to and equal rights to receive secondary, specialized secondary, higher and postgraduate vocational education.

326. Upper secondary education (for the age group 16 19), includes vocational education and is generally available and accessible to all.

Women have also consolidated their majority in post secondary education (Figure 54).

One may also receive an education in State education facilities within the framework of State education standards on a competitive basis, as well as free secondary vocational training, a higher vocational education, and postgraduate vocational training if the given level of education is being obtained for the first time.

Formal education is delivered through a structured education system from pre primary to post secondary levels.

Set up in 1988, this scheme targets graduates of secondary education and those leaving vocational training centres.

In secondary vocational institutions (training schools, technical schools and colleges, and other educational institutions equivalent to them), citizens may obtain a specialty on the basis of general basic, general secondary and beginning vocational education.

In the school year 1993 94 legal persons (enterprises) managed 208 schools (trade, vocational secondary, post secondary), which constituted 2.1 per cent of the existing 9,655 schools.

Beginning vocational education is made available to citizens in keeping with their interests, wishes and capabilities on the basis of basic and general secondary education provided in vocational lycées, vocational schools, special vocational schools and training complexes, centres and other educational institutions equivalent to them.

In 2003 2004 as many as 5798 female and 11 322 male students were acquiring secondary vocational education.

In 2002, the rates of female enrolments varied at different levels of education 18.70 for PhD 57.4 for post graduation 11.8 for under graduation 40.8 for secondary and 13.4 for vocational training.

347. In 1992 93 96 per cent of all young men continued in general upper secondary education or vocational education after basic school.
