In its resolution 58 4, the General Assembly, in order to raise awareness of corruption and of the role of the United Nations Convention against Corruption in combating and preventing it, decided that 9 December should be designated International Anti Corruption Day.

On the occasion of the first International Anti Corruption Day, on 9 December 2004, the Interministerial Coordinating Group for the Fight against Corruption had organized a lecture on measures and procedures preventing corruption.
