177. Indeed, these judicial proceedings are of immense historical significance.

Because there has been only one courtroom to be shared by the Trial Chambers and the Appeals Chamber, the available time in the single courtroom has been allocated among the four pending trials as well as appeals proceedings.

According to the Courts Act, lay judges participate in the administration of justice in county and city courts on the bases and pursuant to the procedure provided by the codes of court procedure.

The right to due process includes the right to judicial proceedings free of delays, the right to be tried within a reasonable period of time and the right to receive a reasoned judgement within a reasonable period of time.

The execution of the trial was flawed and prejudicial to the defendants, without regard to internationally recognized standards for due process of law.
