During the past four years FAFICS has participated in all sessions of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Board, the Standing Committee of the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Board as well as the several special Working Groups that were established by the UN Pension Board.

The consultative process and working arrangements in the Commission

A working group of the Staff Management Coordination Committee met in May 1997 to discuss the text, to which it recommended some 40 changes.

The Subcommittee recommended that, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 52 56, the Working Group of the Whole should be reconvened in 1999 in order to continue to assist the Advisory Committee in its preparatory work for UNISPACE III.

The group shall take advantage of regional preparatory meetings to CRIC 5, with the assistance of regional coordinators that shall be nominated by their respective regions.

The Commission invited the Working Group to submit, through the Sub Commission, a comprehensive report on its work to the Commission at its fifty fourth session for the consideration of, inter alia, the extension of its mandate.
