The Islamic Republic of Iran ratified the statute of IAEA in 1958 and subsequently signed the Treaty on the Non Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons in 1969, which its Parliament ratified in 1970.

The EU calls on all States which are members of the IAEA and have not yet signed and ratified the CPPNM Convention to do so in its amended version.

Likewise, it should call for the universalization and further strengthening of the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material and for the universalization of the IAEA Code of Conduct on the Safety and Security of Radioactive Sources.
