There are several distinct steps in the criteria based assessment process, although some can occur concurrently.

Highlighted in the reports are areas in which there is scope for further effort to be made.

Some countries are further elaborating the political commitments made.

These effects are, however, not further explored in this note.

So it's not all bad news. I mean, there definitely is progress on the line, but I think what we find is that the closer that we get right into the heart of power, the more opaque, closed it becomes.

What further changes can be made?

Although some progress has been made, that very progress is jeopardized by high prices for petroleum products.

We are convinced that there is great scope for building on those gains.

Deliberations by experts may help to develop a better understanding of these issues.

There should be further discussions of those texts.

Those issues needed further elaboration.

All these suggestions would help to further strengthen an already successful product.

Following the evaluation of the results of earlier investigations, it has become necessary to carry out additional inquiries into the allegations.

While this is recognised, there are areas for further improvement, as discussed below.

Others are undergoing further research.

While significant progress had been made, further effort was required in some areas.

Those matters require further investigation by the Commission.

We look forward to further consultations on those issues.

Where obstacles obstruct further progress, it is our role to help remove them.

That would require identifying those activities of private companies that did not further destabilize weak States.

No further advances?

Regional organizations should be further supported to facilitate such efforts.

While some advances had been made, progress was still slow.

These developments, however, require further software enhancements to the database.

And to close, I just want to say, look these are tools.

It was heartening that progress had been made on some fronts.

But there are also areas in which we need to advance multilateral cooperation much further.

Some representatives considered that UNDCP should further increase its efforts to involve all concerned agencies, particularly at the field level.

A number of delegations emphasized the importance of the welfare of staff being kept in mind when undertaking any further post reductions.
