9. The Secretary General apos s review is now complete and is available to this meeting.

Here are some highlights from the four years covered by this review.

This was especially relevant during the present audit, as a number of audits, reviews, inspections and investigations involved peacekeeping operations.

The situation of civil and political rights in Equatorial Guinea was considered during the seventy ninth session without a report and delegation.

One such outcome was the agreement of all parties to launch a review process, although the comprehensive review is not an end in itself.

Election of the President and other officers

Under the terms of reference of this review, the Inspectors examined the efficiency and effectiveness of the Secretariat in carrying out its mandated functions and activities.

The programme review on industrial statistics has provided a broad overview of the industrial statistical system, highlighting its current practices, progress and challenges.

Four regions have held at least two data review workshops with participating countries to examine purchasing power parities at the basic heading level.

At that meeting, the Secretariat presented an initial draft of this document for their review.

President of the Fourth Review Conference

We look forward to a review of progress in the implementation of the resolutions that will result from this debate.

In the present case, three review procedures have been referred to by the author, and the Committee must consider whether any of them satisfies the requirements of article 14, paragraph 5.

The first review and the appropriate action based on that review shall take place no later than 31 December 2002.

The present note contains a suggested outline schedule of the in depth review of the second national communications from Annex I Parties based on the actual dates of the reviews of the first national communications.

During this review, the team noted that several initiatives related to climate change seemed dependent on approval of the special federal programme entitled quot Prevention of dangerous climate changes and their negative consequences. quot

If this review is conducted in 2001, there will have been a five year period from the initial establishment of the rates to the first review.

This condition is examined in the present Chapter.

It is assumed in the present note that the time available for the review of the second communications from Annex I Parties will be two years, with the final results of this review to be made available to the extent possible for COP 5.

However, the Advisory Committee understands that a comprehensive review of the Office was planned for 2004 (A58 760, para. 70), but that it has not yet been carried out.

The report, which was scheduled to be considered at the current session, included a number of important proposals on operating modalities for both programmes.

F. Review of the Agenda of the

Review based on the ninth periodic report

The most recent review by the Security Council was in October 1997.

The most recent review was undertaken in the biennium 1994 1995.

The in depth review of the first national communication of Denmark was carried out between August 1995 and June 1996 and included a country visit by the review team to Copenhagen from 14 to 18 August 1995.

One data review workshop has been held, and a second one is scheduled for December to review second quarter data.

The Working Group postponed the review of rates for field defence stores to the next overall review.

Actual savings and recoveries during the period, resulting from audits during the current and prior reporting periods totalled US 2.1 million.

The in depth review was carried out between April and November 1996 and included a visit by the team to Riga, from 13 to 15 May 1996.

F. Review of the Agenda of the Conference

151. During the period under review, the Working Group transmitted, for the first time, one case of disappearance to the Government of the Gambia.

Experience with the review of first national communications

The Committee suggests that this procedure be reviewed.

We shall need an official verification.

The findings of these reviews and surveys are reflected in this report.

Twice this year at the NPT Review Conference and now at this summit months of negotiation have yielded silence.

In addition, the secretariat undertook several reviews and surveys a specific review of the implementation of all requests to the secretariat contained in COP decisions and subsidiary body conclusions a review of the secretariat's internal management committees and structures a review of workshop arrangements a review of in house information systems, databases and clearing houses a review of the support given by the secretariat to the COP Bureau and a survey of in house services.

The Board plans to review this application in its next audit.
