The European Commission has been involved in the financing of a number of projects in Africa.

A proposal from the Commission of the European Union for a new directive is currently under discussion by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament.

The EU intended to continue supporting those three projects.

In 2005, UNIDIR will begin a project supported by the Marie Curie Intra European Fellowship programme of the European Commission to study EU and United Nations planning for crisis management and peacebuilding.

The EU SEC project supports the security activities during major events within the European Union, through the coordination of, and cooperation among national and regional research programmes.
