The creation of a normative basis for the development of private social security while maintaining the predominance of State social security is one of the objectives of the comprehensive social security legislation which is now being drafted in Bulgaria.

In 1995, several laws were adopted in the area of social security, establishing a uniform social security system.

According to this Law the fish resources in the Latvia's inland waters and territorial waters shall be under the State's control.

The basic principles of the operation of the social security system are regulated by the Law On Social Security.
