UNIDO's global field representation resulting from the Cooperation Agreement with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) was commendable.

However, one positive step was the recent representation agreement between UNIDO and UNDP.

Subsequently, the Agreement was signed by the Director General and the UNDP Administrator on 23 September 2004 and was circulated to Member States on 27 September 2004.

Latvia favours the universalization of the Additional Protocol and urges all the countries who have not yet signed this document to do so.

The service level agreements between UNFPA and UNDP were finalized in December 2004 and signed in April 2005.

We've all been forced to sign this statement.

As treaties must remain at United Nations Headquarters for signature, it has been decided to hold a parallel signature event at Headquarters on 25 April 2005.

The present Convention shall be subject to ratification by signatory States and to formal confirmation by signatory regional integration organizations. It shall be open for accession by any State or regional integration organization which has not signed the Convention.

In anticipation of the signing ceremony of the International Treaty on the Ban of Landmines, a three element press kit on the landmine issue and the role of the United Nations was published and made available at the conference site during the signing ceremony and was also posted on the United Nations website.
