Staff and other personnel costs

Given the incidence of personnel versus non personnel costs in the Organization apos s cost structure, reductions of the magnitude set by the Assembly cannot be achieved without reductions in staff costs also for Professional posts. quot

8.53 The amount of 1,911,900 provides for seven existing posts, other staff costs and various non post items.

Non post resources relate to travel undertaken by the staff of the Division and contractual translation services, reflecting reduced requirements in the biennium 2006 2007.

62.1 Other staff costs

Military and police personnel costs would increase by 40.5 per cent, civilian personnel costs by 1.3 per cent and operational costs by 48.9 per cent.

The non post requirements of 129,800 provide for other staff costs, consultants and experts, and travel of staff and include an increase of 7,100 for consultants ( 4,400) and experts ( 2,700).

The amount of 322,900 for non post requirements relates to other staff costs ( 95,500) for consultants and experts ( 157,300) and for travel of staff ( 70,100).

Increased requirements under non post requirements relate to contractual services, general operating expenses and furniture and equipment offset in part by reduced requirements for other staff costs, consultants and experts, travel of staff and supplies and materials.

The non post requirements of 237,500, with an increase of 106,900, are to provide resources for general temporary assistance, overtime and travel.

The other requirements related to non staff costs.

Non post resources relate to travel undertaken by the staff of the Office and provision for contractual translation services.

Reduction in military personnel costs

20.49 The amount of 264,300 for non post requirements provides for other staff costs ( 72,700), consultants and experts ( 101,800) and travel of staff ( 89,800) and includes a net increase of 9,000 for consultants and experts offset by decreased requirements for travel of staff.

The non post requirements of 221,100 are required for other staff costs ( 31,700), consultants and experts ( 104,200) and travel of staff ( 85,200).

The estimated non post requirements, at the maintenance level, will cover the travel of staff for purposes of training and to provide stress counselling to staff in the field, contractual services for the preparation of training material and communication costs.
