The cost estimate provides for requirements for the support service contract at an average cost of 1,349,400 per month, based on the actual terms of the one year contract that came into effect on 19 January 1998.

Thus, the contract was awarded competitively to a new contractor for the period from 1 April 1997 to 31 March 1998 in the total amount of 7.9 million, at an average monthly cost of 657,400, representing a reduction in the monthly contract price of 340,539 compared with the price agreed in the previous contract (1 January 31 March 1997).

On 1 December 2002 the Equal Treatment (Temporary and Permanent Contracts) Act came into effect.

The Board found more than 1,100 contracts which had not been reported to headquarters, some dating back to 1994.

(b) For both contracts, which covered a five year period beginning 1 July 1996, the proposals were submitted to the Headquarters Committee on Contracts at the end of the extended periods of the previous contracts for urgent approval (just one day in the case of the cleaning contract).

Those payments relate to those authorized by the Congress as at 1 October 1997 and related to assessments due the United Nations on 31 January 1997.

The Board reviewed the lump sum contract for cleaning and maintenance services ( 38.30 million) and the contract for electrical equipment, operations and maintenance services ( 14.46 million) for the period from 1 July 1996 to 30 June 2001, including the interim contracts that were finalized during the biennium.

On enquiry, the Advisory Committee was informed that the cost of a new contract after 18 January 1999 was not expected to be lower than that of the current contract.

21. Nine hundred and forty eight contracts with a value of US 932 million were completed between January 1992 and end December 1997.

Under this type of contract, the contracting firm agrees to give the young person general technical training during the first phase of his contract and to submit an individualized training plan to the Ministry of Labour and Social Security if the contract runs to more than one year.

28G.1 The United Nations Office at Nairobi was established effective 1 January 1996 as a successor to the United Nations Common Services at Nairobi and the two separate divisions of administration of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the United Nations Centre for Human Settlements (Habitat).

The discussion took place at the United Nations in New York from 28 to 30 January 1993, and was co organized by the United Nations University.

The contractual arrangements for the long term charter of aircraft would be in effect from 1 May 1998 for fixed wing aircraft and from 1 June and 1 July 1998 respectively for the two helicopters.

During the period from 1 October 1996 to 31 December 1997, 150 contracts valued at US 369 million were completed.
