Governance strengthening of institutions, law and policy

Good governance is a priority objective for the governing institutions of Kosovo.

Support to national and local governance institutions to achieve the MDGs

The new narrative would emphasize poverty reduction, governance, institutions and the rule of law .

For its part, Africa is committed to strengthening its governance practices and institutions.

The stability of public institutions and good economic governance have contributed in particular to these results.

The voice and the vote of developing countries in the governance of those institutions need to be strengthened.

(a) Revive and reinforce the governance institutions at both the central and local levels

Public participation, accountability and transparency, supported by effective institutions are crucial elements of good governance at all levels.

Furthermore, international governance and the decision making process in the international financial institutions (IFIs) should improve.

UNPOS will closely support the establishment of governance structures and institutions and the development of initial plans of action for each of them.

For that purpose, the continued commitment of Kosovo institutions to decentralization, minority issues, good governance and the economy remains a priority.

By helping to build strong institutions and facilitating good governance, the United Nations can help advance the cause of larger freedom.

But when it comes to governance of the global space, my guess is this won't happen through the creation of more U.N. institutions.

Its institutions were well known for their lack of corruption, good governance, transparency and accountability and represented the true meaning of public service.

Schools of public administration, international organizations, centres on innovation in governance and academic institutions can play a key role in this respect.

At the same time, we are making determined efforts to strengthen democratic institutions and ensure good governance and the rule of law.

Democratic governance, both within nations and in our global institutions, also constitutes a powerful weapon in meeting the global scourge of terrorism.

Sometimes, this will require extending institutions outward from nation states and strengthening global governance. At other times, it will mean preventing markets from expanding beyond the reach of institutions that must remain national.

We are moving steadily to strengthen good governance through strong democratic institutions, establish the rule of law and eliminate intolerance in our society.

For this, laws and institutions that protect property rights, encourage openness, improve financial governance and strengthen capital markets are needed.

That is why there is great interest in good governance, strengthening democratic institutions and enlarging the participation of civil society in the exercise of democracy.

Continued efforts to reinforce the capacity of institutions that underpin good governance, in particular the judicial sector, will be equally important in this regard.

A Democracy Governance and Participation Steering Committee has been established to facilitate implementation, which will involve the allocation of regional responsibilities to national institutions.

Also, measures must be taken to ensure good governance, freedom from corruption and strong political and economic institutions in all countries.

Strengthening judicial institutions is a very important way in which the international community can help African countries to promote good governance.

(c) Encouraging the study, in schools and universities, of democracy, human rights, good governance and the functioning of public administration, political institutions and civil society organizations

It is a period for reconciliation, confidence building and the rebuilding of institutions, especially those for the administration of justice, democracy, human rights and accountable governance.

Some speakers pointed out that that deficit was of special concern, since the Bretton Woods institutions had been moving to the area of global economic governance.

Good governance therefore depends on public participation as well as on being effective and equitable, and promoting the rule of law and the transparency of institutions.

Recognizing that good governance and the building of effective democratic institutions are a continuous process for all Governments, regardless of the level of development of the countries concerned,

Thus, the Subgroup on Capacity Building for Governance of the Administrative Committee on Coordination has defined, in general, 11 concrete principles of good governance, including an effective public sector, accountability transparency of processes and institutions, effective participation of civil society political empowerment and gender equality.

(a) To ensure relevant United Nations agencies and other bodies with governance programmes, including relevant international financial and development institutions, are aware of the outcomes of the seminar, and to encourage them to examine whether their approaches to good governance promote human rights

It has done so, with spectacular success. The rules of the game now require that China be given a bigger share in the governance of international institutions.

37. In the area of peace and democratic governance, the United Nations operational system has provided assistance to consensus building processes and building capacity of democratic institutions.

A few days ago, the General Office of the Ministry of Education issued the Bulletin on the progress of the rectification work of the special governance action for the nationwide off campus training institutions . By October 15, 2018, 400,532 off campus training institutions have been investigated, 272,175 institutions have problems, and 83,510 institutions have been rectified, with a rectification rate of 30.68 .

Conference deliberations touched on a wide range of issues relevant to the consolidation of the institutional foundations of good governance in Africa, including the fundamental issues of the nature and objective of good governance the nature and role of the State key governance institutions civil society and related issues of the military, elections, the opposition, women, decentralization and the media.
