The Office broadened its assistance to States in implementing the mutual legal assistance and extradition provisions of the international drug, crime and terrorism conventions and protocols.

Some representatives raised the issue of the possibility and desirability of negotiating additional international legal instruments, such as a global convention on extradition and mutual legal assistance.

Brazil stated that any request for international legal assistance under the Convention should be in Portuguese or in English.
