There have been no declarations or statements under article 310, nor any declarations under articles 287 or 298 of UNCLOS.

These supervisory organs have also issued important declarations and statements on the subject of human rights and terrorism.

There have been no new declarations or statements regarding the United Nations Fish Stocks Agreement.

The draft resolution responds to the information in the Secretary General apos s report concerning declarations and statements made under article 310. Since declarations and statements should not purport to exclude or modify the legal effect of the provisions of the Convention, the draft resolution calls upon States to examine their declarations and withdraw any that are not in conformity with the Convention.

Any other declarations, public statements or letters of intention are in no way valid to shorten this period.

Very often, statements and declarations in which Governments proclaim their commitment to respect human rights are contradicted by a practice of violations and impunity.

The measure of commitment to promote and protect human rights, however, is the way and extent to which statements and declarations are put into practice.

In this respect it is also recalled that, from 1982 to 1984, 35 States made declarations or statements upon signature.

Some have committees dedicated to ethical issues, and have issued declarations or statements which could be interpreted as being similar in effect to codes of conduct.

It, therefore, called on its Member States to actively and effectively take part in the UN reform process, in accordance with the relevant declarations and statements issued by the OIC.

It should be recalled that in General Assembly resolution 52 26 the Assembly called upon States, inter alia, to harmonize their national legislation with the provisions of the Convention, to ensure that any declarations or statements that they have made or make when signing, ratifying or acceding are in conformity with the Convention and to withdraw any of their declarations or statements that are not.
