42. The following bills were introduced

The reviews have resulted in proposed amendments to existing legislation in Nepal, with a new bill tabled in Parliament.

I presented those proposals, taking into consideration the points raised by various groups, and put some of those proposals in square brackets.

Those initiatives will be coupled with a new draft investment law, a credible budget for 2006 and the introduction of a fair and simple tax reform bill, which will be submitted to the Parliament at its next sitting.

Draft amendments to existing legislation were proposed in Nepal and a revised bill tabled in the lower house of parliament.

The sponsors had proposed various formulations, but had been unable to achieve consensus.

The bill is expected to face constitutional challenges.

Due to constitutional queries regarding the Bill, it was pulled back in Cabinet for further review and amendment.

Amendments have been submitted to reflect the fact that separate Chemical Weapons and People Trafficking bills have been introduced and are also pending in Congress.

Another issue raised concerned legal texts.
