Calls on the Waqf's Supervisory Council and the Committee for Resources Development of the ISF to intensify their efforts to better diversify the investment portfolios of ISF's Waqf Fund at the Islamic Development Bank.

In that context, the international community should ensure the operationalization of the World Solidarity Fund, established by the General Assembly.

The first tier is a pension scheme that is based on social insurance contribution payments and that operates according to the principle of the solidarity of generations.

The Conference requested all the Member States to commit themselves to making annual voluntary donations to the ISF budget and called on the Member States to contribute to the capital of the ISF Waqf.

57 265. Establishment of the World Solidarity Fund

The Conference took note of the report of the Chairman of the ISF Permanent Council on the activities of the ISF and its Waqf and expressed its appreciation to the Member States which made donations to the ISF and its Waqf, particularly the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of the United Arab Emirates, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, and the State of Qatar.

We welcome the creation of the Digital Solidarity Fund within the framework of the World Summit on Information Society and note with satisfaction the public and private contributions made for its financing.

Calls also on the ISF Waqf Supervisory Fund to look for effective ways to get donations from the private sector (institutions and individuals) in OIC Member States as a new source to support the budget of the Islamic Solidarity Fund.

28. Encourages Member States, international organizations, the private sector, relevant institutions, foundations and individuals to contribute to the World Solidarity Fund

A solidarity fund had been established to reduce marginalization and ensure national cohesion, seeking to strike a balance between regions and between different sections of society.

The World Bank is a key partner with UNICEF in the Unite for Children, Unite Against AIDS campaign.

It also requested the Permanent Council of the Islamic Solidarity Fund (ISF), at its next session, to consider extending financial assistance to projects submitted under the Islamic Programme for Development of Information and Communication (PIDIC).

7. Requests the Secretary General to submit a progress report on the operationalization of the World Solidarity Fund to the Economic and Social Council at its substantive session in 2004.
