The SBI took note of the recommendations contained in document FCCC SBI 2005 7 on further improvement of training materials and on future hands on training workshops.

The Office has a dedicated learning unit and a learning focal point, and further improvements to the learning programme have been made in accordance with needs and resource requirements.

At the end of each session, evaluation forms were distributed to participants in order to get feedback on how to improve the organization of future training workshops and on the further development of training materials.

The Ministry of Education and Training is also finalizing the project on furthering socialization of education and training for the Government's approval.

The need to further enhance the provision of training in this area has been stressed.

A great deal of importance is being attached to beginning vocational technical training for women.

Further progress was made in the training and restructuring of the Liberian National Police.

The UNITAR training programme invites indigenous women involved in peacebuilding initiatives to participate in the training by sharing their experiences and challenges with other representatives, and further enhancing the capacity of indigenous women in conflict analysis, negotiation and peacebuilding.

INSTRAW stated that the implementation of this strategy was already under way, with the first and second steps (mapping of existing training methodologies, tools, monitoring indicators and institutions) completed and posted on the Institute's website.

The review identified a potential to further improve this support through clearer and more tailored advice, written material, and more training of secretariat staff, for example on procedural issues.

It is anticipated, however, that given further training, management direction and practical experience, the development of indicators and data collection methods will be improved.

The Institute's training programmes for capacity building are further reinforced by information exchange, technical cooperation, advocacy and publications.

Further expansion will address technical training and will also focus on courses and activities related to personal and professional development.
