And (the tribe of) Thamud He spared not

And Samood, so He spared not

and Thamud tribes,

And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life.

He told you he was going to leave you this legacy, but you doubted his word?

I am also pleased to note that, just last month, a report on Chernobyl's legacy was issued.

If we had the account of earlier people with us,

If we had some advice from the earlier generations,

'If only we had had a Reminder from the ancients,

Had we but an admonition as had the ancients.

If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah).

Had we received advice from the ancients.

If only we had the Reminder which had been granted to the people of yore

If we had but a reminder from the men of old

Had we possessed a Reminder from our predecessors,

'If only we had a reminder from the ancients,

If we had a message from those of the former peoples,

Had we received guidance from the people living before us,

Had we a reminder from those of yore,

If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old,

If only we had had before us a Message from those of old,

I must have left it on the bus.

He left a note.

Verily We have left a clear sign of this for people of sense to see.

And We have undoubtedly kept a part of it as a clear sign for people of intellect.

And indeed, We have left thereof a sign, a clear sign? unto a people who understand.

And assuredly We have left thereof manifest sign for a people who reflect.

And indeed We have left thereof an evident Ayah (a lesson and a warning and a sign the place where the Dead Sea is now in Palestine) for a folk who understand.

And We left behind a clear trace of it, for people who understand.

And We have left a vestige of it in that city as a Clear Sign for a people who use their reason.
