Trade facilitation can reduce the overall cost of international trade transactions through the internationally agreed alignment of key trade and transport procedures and documents.

It was to be hoped that the Doha Round of multilateral trade negotiations would be brought to a successful conclusion, creating new opportunities for trade, reducing the trade barriers between countries, and directing the trading system towards the development goals.

It was agreed that the scope of distributive trade statistics should include wholesale trade, retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles.

Participants challenged the focus of many Governments on revitalizing the Doha trade negotiations.

Trade among developing countries is now growing faster than their trade with developed countries and accounts for over 40 per cent of the total trade of the South.

The World Trade Organization is now disseminating trade profiles of economies combining trade flows with trade policy information sourced from within the World Trade Organization and other organizations and OECD has developed a prototype on trade indicators (trade plus production, employment, investment, etc.) linking standardized information from various OECD databases to trade data.

10.15 ITC carries out its technical cooperation activities in coordination with its parent bodies, UNCTAD and WTO.
